Some of our more avid readers may remember that back in January of this year, we attended the launch evening of Scotland’s newest supercar dealership – McLaren Glasgow. Now that McLaren Glasgow has been up and running for a few months, we thought we’d take you behind the scenes for a closer look at the home of McLaren in Scotland.
Owned by Park’s Motor Group, the brand new purpose-built facility provides McLaren owners and enthusiasts the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with some of McLaren’s finest offerings. For the first few months it has been all about the McLaren 650S, however with McLaren very much expanding their range, this is soon to change (watch this space).
It is a very exciting time for McLaren, and the British motor industry at that, with McLaren aiming to bring out a new model each year. The McLaren 675LT, ‘LT’ standing for ‘Longtail’, was launched at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and all 500 units were sold out in a matter of weeks.
Scotland can expect to see a few LT’s heading it’s way very shortly, however, in the meantime we were lucky enough to spend some time with the new lightweight, more driver-focused McLaren at the St. Andrew’s Hospice Race the Runway event. At first glimpse the 675LT certainly looks very menacing, the rear airbrake is 50% larger than that on the 650S, thus helping to increase downforce and braking power. The more aggressive diffuser and splitter, coupled with 100kg of weight saving and more power, certainly gets us excited! Pop your foot on the brake and press the glowing ‘Engine Start’ button and the 666bhp 3.8L Twin-Turbo V8 bursts into life. At this moment, it is immediately apparent that this car means business, and for any of those sound critics out there, we can confirm that the new titanium crossover exhaust system on the 675 will provide you with the glorious soundtrack you desperately crave.
Also, new to McLarens model range this year is the new McLaren Sports Series. Whether it be the more useable 540C, or the sportier 570S, the Sports Series is definitely set to ruffle a few feathers of its German and Italian competition!
Thanks to our partners McLaren Glasgow, we will be able to bring you all the very latest photographs, videos and news surrounding these exciting new cars arriving in Scotland.
